Castle Whimsical Round Two Test Drive Meme
TEST DRIVE MEME

Welcome to Castle Whimsical's Test Drive Meme for Round Two. Remember that reserves open on July 31st at 12:00 PM EST. Applications open on August 6 at 12:00 PM EST, with the game proper starting on August 15.
1. MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS
Welcome to Ira Academy. It is a beautiful day. This morning, you woke up in your dorm room, just like every week. You dressed in your Academy-issued uniform, just like every week. You did put on your uniform, didn’t you? Failure to adhere to the Academy dress code will result in a demerit.
What do you mean, you have no idea how you got here and you just woke up in a strange place? You’re too old for that healthy an imagination!
As long as all academy-issued clothing are donned, feel free to head out from the dormitory area into the school proper. You’ll find you’re located on the north side of the ground floor. On the east side of the floor, two unassuming doors stand next to one another. One leads to the LOST AND FOUND, where abandoned items can be collected—once you’ve earned the privilege to do so. The other has name plate beside it, the text scratched out and illegible. Instead, the freshly-painted panel on the door reads TEMPORARY STUDENT COUNCIL HEADQUARTERS. A note is pinned to the door:
“The school prefect is away to deal with sibling business and will return next weekend. ”
On the west side, you’ll find the cafeteria. A massive industrial clock oversees the wide room and its low, utilitarian tables and bench-style seating. At exactly 7:00am, the doors into the self-service lunch line swing open. Be sure to collect your Vegetable Paste Pizza and Slightly Bruised Apple!
Across from the cafeteria are the double doors into the auditorium. Props and set pieces from the last school performance are still on the stage, presenting no shortage of play opportunities or hazards. The middle front row of seats is covered by several identical pieces of paper, each of them reading the same thing. RESERVED. RESERVED. RESERVEDRESERVEDRESERVED.
Oh, and there’s a young, placid-looking sheep standing in the front hallway right by the entrance. You’ll need to walk past him to cross to the other side of the main floor or to get to the doors, which appear to lead out to a playground with particularly sharp objects. His nametag reads ’Little Brother.’
The first weekend of your first semester has only just started. Where will you go? Who will you meet?
2. CAPSTONE PROJECT
After settling into a daily school routine, the horrible truth has come out: In order to graduate from the Academy and go back to your normal lives, someone must murder one of their classmates and get away with it.
Right now, only the first floor is open to students. There’s not a lot of room to go without running into someone else. Someone planning a murder will have to be especially careful to not be seen, so it’s better to catch someone wandering around outside after curfew or lure them out of their dorm past midnight with a deadly trap.
Armed with only your wits—because try as you might, no traditional weapons can be found on school grounds—what will happen when you encounter another student in the middle of the night? Will you kill to have your chance at leaving this strange place? Or are you just the subject of the next project?
3. EARN YOUR GRADE
Yes, yes, the horrible truth about your time at the Academy has come to light. Shock, violence, escape from the torturous specter of homework.
Today came with a worse truth: One of the students has actually gone and done it. Another student is dead, and if the remaining survivors don’t determine whose project this is, the culprit will have all of their demerits erased and graduate. And the rest of you… will flunk out and be killed as well.
That is… Oh, no! Not {Insert Favorite Character Here}! Everyone loved them!
This tragic loss of this beloved classmate weighs heavy in the air. The halls seem darker somehow. Maybe there’s even some blood that needs to be cleaned up. For those students that remain, everyone must rely on one another to look for clues and deal with the aftermath, comforting one another in this hour of need. If everyone works together, it may be possible to solve this mystery and avenge the fallen. Now is a good time to prepare for the challenges that lie ahead.
Unless, of course, you’re the killer instead? Now you’ll have to hide your own true feelings and deeds while trying to navigate the scared, grieving souls around you.
You have a few hours before the presentation. Better make the most of it.
4. THE SEVEN MYSTERIES OF IRA ACADEMY
Good evening. It is past curfew. Obedient ████████ would be in bed right now. Though the dormitory doors should all be locked, tonight, they swing open one by one, bidding the curious to ███████████.
If you listen closely, ███ ███ ████ ███ ██████ ██ █████ ███████ ███████ ███ █████ █████ ███████ ████ ███ ████ ██ ███ auditorium.
Now, now…. This particular mystery must remain quiet for now. We can’t exactly give everything away, can we? Yet there are other things amiss in the Academy at night that seem a little off. That's not just the dread of murder that's chilling your spine. A dripping faucet in the cafeteria that seems to be leaking blood mixed in with water, a tap on your shoulder when no one was there, a slamming window that was closed only moments before...
Good children should ignore silly superstitions. Surely one of your classmates is just pulling a prank. Still, there's something that raises goosebumps on your arms. Perhaps you should stick close with a classmate... unless you think such childish things can't hurt you. Someone has to be the brave one.
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Hello! Mods Shay and Yue here with a small note. As you can see, we've included a small final prompt that previews a new addition to the setting: The Seven Mysteries of the Academy. While the IC reason remains, well, a mystery, the Seven Mysteries will be an integrated game mechanic tied to both the living and dead characters. We've updated the FAQ with more information about this part of the setting and are happy to answer any other questions. For the TDM, feel free to come up with your own little 'mysteries' to try to spook your characters or others or insert your own school facilities - you can also utilize the examples listed!
We'd also would like to remind potential players that the TDM isn't canon, but threads may be used for samples. As the TDM serves a setting introduction and a place to test out characters, we anticipate that NPCs won't be joining you at this time. Though mod interaction with TDM threads will be minimal, we are always here to help and answer any questions! Thank you for being obedient students and practicing good academy citizenship. And most of all - have fun!

Alice Arisuin | Chivalry of a Failed Knight
[Okay, but they at least gave her the girl's uniform. That increases Alice's opinion of this shady place - sure they kidnapped her and probably other teens and children for nefarious reasons, but they didn't misgender her on top of it.
Either way, she'll flag down any other students she spots.]
I'm assuming you just woke up here as well? In that case, why don't we look together? Two heads are better than one, so they say.
[3]
[After all the evidence has been examined, Alice can be found... in the school kitchen, putting on some tea. She'll pour a cup for herself, and bring a cup to whoever looks like they're doing particularly badly.]
Here. You'll need to keep up your strength for later.
[4]
Hmm, hmmm, hmmm~
[Someone's humming cheerfully as they walk down the dimly-lit halls.]
A haunted school... Normally I'd find this sort of thing much more fun, but the whole 'murder' aspect makes it hard to enjoy to the fullest. Don't you think so?
4
[Well, one summer vacation to another, she guesses.]
Except that this might lead to murder.

Anya Forger | Spy x Family | OTA
[Well. This wasn't Eden Academy, she knew that for sure. She was in somewhere entirely new, and she was being pushed along with a schedule she seemed intended to find familiar (but didn't) and...for some reason, she didn't feel normal.
Little did Anya know, her greatest ability had been taken from her. Her mind-reading was no longer. She was now standing on the playground, trying not to consider the fact that she might not see her Papa or Mama again.
...It's not like it's the first time she's been taken away, is it?]
Mmm.
[What's with all these sharp objects?]
[ii: capstone project]
[Walking alone at night was unwise. And terrifying. But she needed to go to the bathroom. So there Anya was, walking alone at night. 'Kill someone and get away with it to be free'.
Mama could do that easy. But Mama wasn't here. Papa probably could, too.
...Were they coming?
In the middle of her thinking, Anya--accidentally ran into another person.]
Oof--ah!
[She jumped back. What would Bondman say at a time like this?!]
You shouldn't mess with me. Or. I'll...bite down on it. And you'll get nothing!
[She had no it. What was it, anyway?
It sounded intimidating, at least.]
iii: earn your grade
[Mama would be able to do this without any trouble.
It was an accident. It shouldn't be an accident. She had to remain quiet. She was never a good liar, not like Papa. Papa was a good liar. A natural. Anya wasn't. And she'd just done something very unforgivable. They'd stopped breathing.
She sank down into her seat. No one should look at her. They'll all know soon.
Well. There was only one way to truly live up to her parents legacy, she supposed.]
...This is it.

YOU'RE UNDER ARREST FOR BEING A CRIMINAL! NOW CONFESS, PUNK!
2. Capstone Project
[A few minutes after that little murder someone spiel, a confused Adorabat flies over to you, hoping for some answers.

Dewey Duck | Ducktales (2017)
1. Starting gossip on school grounds (Morning Announcements)
[In any other case, Dewey would have outright loved to be part of a weird conspiracy or any other situation of the sort where he's mysteriously in a different location with potentially sinister reasons for it. But, with none of his other family around (far as he can tell), and having to be forced to wear this stuffy uniform, and it being in a school of all places, he didn't seem to be having a good time. In fact, he's already loosened his tie and is keeping the front of his uniform unbuttoned to show off the blue t-shirt underneath, as a way of screaming "THE SYSTEM CAN'T KEEP ME DOWN!" or something like that.
But, a mystery is still a mystery. He's looking at the Temporary Student Council Headquarters door, as well as the notice pinned to it.]
"Sibling business"? Huh... What could that mean? Sabotage? Discipline? The Ira Acadamy Illuminati meeting?! This could mean anything, our only dirt on the culprits behind our mysterious disappearances! [He's... got a wild imagination. It's about all he has right now.]
2. Take your assignment seriously! (Capstone Project)
[A bombshell revelation. This wasn't just any ordinary school. If anyone wanted to escape, the only way... was murder.
However, despite the direness of the situation, despite the horror that should come with such a serious crime looming over everyone's heads, the grin on Dewey's face just seemed to grow wider and wider, until he blurted out...]
Finally! Something interesting about this whole thing!
[It was irrational of him. Stupid. Peculiar even. But the possibility of death never scared him. He would run into a hallway if he was told there was death traps. He wanted excitement, suspense, danger! This was finally his cup of tea!
But, then he looks over to someone else. Someone else who's clearly staring at him with... some sort of emotion he couldn't read.]
Whaaat? This place was just boring, there's finally some spice to this so that we don't die of boredom anyway! And besides, they don't mean, like, murder-murder, do they? I mean, it's probably like Mafia, or Assassin, isn't it? We'll be fine! [He wasn't even taking it seriously...]
3. It WAS murder-murder (Earn Your Grade)
H-Hey, uh, you doing okay there, buddy? [Dewey's voice could be heard from around the corner. His footsteps moved further away, slowly.] Uh, I could take you to the nurse's office or something? You don't look so good... [The sound of a body being flipped over could be heard.] H-Hey, this... this isn't funny, you can quit joking around! I- I get it, maybe what I said that one time about how murder makes this whole school thing exciting was out of line, but... this is... too... far... to teach me... [His voice grew quieter and shakier.] A lesson... Where...? Where's your pulse...? Where...?
[He slowly breathed in...]
HEEEEEEELP!!! SOMEBODY'S BEEN KILLED!!! HEEEEEEEEEELP!!!! [In an instant, he came running around the corner, almost missing whoever was listening to him beyond the corner until he bumped into them, tears streaming down his face.] H-HELP, HELP, I-IT'S [SO-AND-SO]! [SO-AND-SO]'S DEAD!! THEY'RE DEAD!!!
4. Finally, a real mystery! (The Seven Mysteries of Ira Academy)
[Dewey had his ear pressed up to the doors of the auditorium, carefully making sure he didn't bump the doors as he did so, and was keeping his other ear out for anyone else so he didn't get startled and bump into the doors anyway. He was fortunate enough to keep that up before he noticed someone else approaching him.]
Shh! Quiet... There's something behind these doors... Something about [blank and blank from what he heard]. Listen...

Ao Hoshizaki | Blue Reflection Second Light
[There's a single thought as Ao looks around her new surroundings, picking at her new uniform as she walks around:
Not again~!
Rena, Yuki, and Kokoro weren't around this time, though. She was expecting them or any of the other girls to give a shout that they were heading out but no. Just more people about her age or younger. She runs a hand through her hair.]
Jeeze... maybe I'm not an isekai protagonist after all... maybe I'm just unlucky.
[She mutters this under her breath as she tries to get a grip on what's happening.]
2. Morning Announcements Part 2
[...That mascot animal looks fluffy but also weird. Ao stands in front of 'Little Brother' and gives the sheep a poke. The mascot doesn't move. She pokes it again, still no movement. She raises a hand to gesture to a nearby classmate.]
Hey... what do you think of this sheep? I can't decide if it's creepy or cute.
3. Capstone Project
[Ao is thinking about this situation long and hard. As the rest of the classmates begin to leave she finally says something:]
Agh! Maybe I should have gotten into the mystery genre! I haven't even read a, uh, Sherlock Dupin story! How are we going to keep each other safe?!

Yuuta Takizawa | Alive: The Final Evolution
[Yuuta did not put on the uniform... at first. But once he realized he'd stick out like a sore thumb otherwise, he dutifully returned to his room to change out of a button up and shorts to the actual uniform, even if he wasn't exactly jazzed by the idea.
He can be found scoping out the area - a peek down a hall when he's pretty sure no one's looking, a quick break by some gossiping students when they aren't paying attention, the usual tricks a ten year old might employ to try to figure out what the fuck is going on here.]
2. CAPSTONE PROJECT
[Yuuta receives the news of their little "project" with only mild surprise and mostly a grim expression. And once he's out and about and seemingly alone...
He sighs, loud enough for anyone following him to hear.]
Don't bother. Only an idiot would play along with that stupid project.
3. EARN YOUR GRADE
[There's the initial shock, of course, coming across a body. But it doesn't take him long to get back into working order, shaking his head in exasperation before making his way over to the corse.]
Do we have any doctors? ...Yeah, right.
[A pack of children isn't going to include anyone with medical training. That would be silly. That said, he's holding it together well as he looks over the corpse, and that's what's important.]
Looks like... maybe someone struck him from behind?
[That's a pretty nasty wound on the back of the head at least.]
4. THE SEVEN MYSTERIES OF IRA ACADEMY
[He just needed to go to the bathroom what in the fresh hell is that red stuff leaking out from under the bathroom door.
He stares at the dark puddle. Rubs his eyes. Stares some more. Yep, puddle's still there.
Why this!!]

Hunter de Vil | 101 Dalmatian Street
[ Wow. WOW. As if his life couldn't get any worse than it already did. Sure, he probably doesn't have to worry about great auntie screaming at him over the phone anymore... But that's because he doesn't even HAVE his phone on him. Nor is he anywhere near London, which is extremely weird considering he was actually in Camden Town just a second ago.
Worst of all, one thing that reminds him he wasn't hallucinating the last six months or so? His hair's still an outgrown mess.
No wonder the boy's grouchy at first. He's outside the Lost and Found at the moment, taking a second to collect his thoughts after a failed attempt to pry the door open. ]
Ugh... Great. Nice job, Hunter, you've really screwed up this time.
[ He pinches the bridge of his nose and sighs. ] Could this possibly get any worse now?!
2. Capstone Project
[ The situation did, somehow, manage to get worse. ]
WHAT?! Are you insane?! I'm not gonna kill someone!
[ Okay, he's fine with collecting dogs. He's fine with maybe breaking a few laws to collect said dogs (it's fine as long as you don't get caught, right?) But outright murder is a line even this deVil refuses to cross!
And yet that's the only way to leave.
After the announcer has left, Hunter's secluded himself away from the others and mutters to himself. ] Ohmygod. Omg what do I do, what do I do, what do I do...
4. Seven Mysteries
[ It's hard enough to get sleep with everything hanging over his head, but the nightly disturbances are a bit much to bear. So he's agreed to help someone investigate some of the seven mysteries a bit.
Tonight's excursion has brought them to one of the locker rooms in the gym. Nothing too out of the ordinary so far, save for the eerie feeling of being watched, but then a locker suddenly slams open in front of them.
Would have gotten more of a normal reaction out of Hunter if he didn't notice the tennis ball falling out of it. ]
... Ball!
[ He abruptly drops down on all fours and proceeds to start barking his head off as he's chasing after it. He doesn't seem to be realizing the ball is rolling away from him of its own accord, he's just determined to try grabbing it with his teeth and chew it up because ball BALL BALLBALLBALL-
So! Here's the 8th Mystery of Ira Academy: Why the heck is Hunter suddenly acting like a puppy dog? ]

Dylan Dalmatian | 101 Dalmatian Street
[what
WHAT
WHAT IS GOING ON
There's a lot of sound coming from one of the dorm rooms, like someone is banding against the door, but they're...really short? Also bad at opening doors, I guess.
Then there's a pause, before the door is finally opened, and out steps a Dalmatian, wearing...a dog sized version of the uniform the boys are being forced to wear.]
Somehow I think this is the most humiliating thing that I've had to wear.
[Correction, a Dalmatian wearing a dog sized version of the uniform the boys are being forced to wear-that can talk!]
2. Can You Spot The Problem?
[oh, gee, a school that kidnaps it's students-including animals, all of whom never signed up to be here-is dangerous and means to hurt them. who could have possibly guessed it.
Luckily Dylan is not one to brag, he is one to take action in dire times!
And by take action, I of course mean come up with a plan to keep everyone safe! He wasn't one of the two Top Dogs of his house for nothing, after all!
So, if you're one of the people he's asked to come meet him in the auditorium, congrats! He sees you as some of the most responsible of the bunch!]
Okay, so the initial plan is simple, we patrol the school in shifts to make sure no one is up to any suspicious behavior. If they are, DO NOT ENGAGE unless A. you know someone else is in danger and not getting involved could risk them getting hurt, or B. you're able to get in contact with one of the others and are certain at that point that you can stop whatever plan they have in mind.
Does everyone understand so far?
[He'll be patient and wait for any questions.]
3. In The Presence Of De Vils
[The moment Dylan gets his door open is the same moment he goes running like a dog on a mission. Any student following close enough might be able to hear him muttering as he rushes.]
Oh my dog, oh my dog, oh my dog-
[The Dalmatian comes to an abrupt stop once he sets eyes on the playground, gasping at the sight there.
Dogs have a heightened sense of smell compared to dogs, so it shouldn't be a surprise Dylan was the first to sense all that blood.]
No...

Valmont | Jackie Chan Adventures
[ Well, on the bright side, if ever there was a kid who felt at home in a fancy private school - you're looking at him. Dapper short-panted suit-and-tie uniform? Please, Valmont's British, he knows the drill. This one might even be a little bit better quality than his back home. He shall have to have a serious talk with his parents about whether they truly are sending him to the best primary school money can buy.
Unfortunately, "better quality" doesn't seem to apply to much else around this place. Valmont wrinkles his nose, judgemental gaze passing from the underwhelming cafeteria to the disarray that is the auditorium. Is that a sheep in the foyer? ]
Don't tell me we've been kidnapped into this farce of an academy in order to do... farm work.
[ Spoken with as much disdain as can be mustered by someone who has no clear idea what farm work actually involves. He's pretty sure sheep come into it somewhere, though. ]
2. keikaku
[ Oh hellll no. Valmont is not dying here. They just have to kill someone and get away with it, right? Sure, he's never killed before, but you have to start somewhere. ]
Excuse me? Might I have a word with you for a moment?
[ Sure, it's getting late and you two might be the only ones in this creepy hallway, but look at this tiny kid with the big blue eyes and the cute accent. He couldn't murder you horribly, could he? ]
4. spoopy
[ Okay, so the locked doors to everyone's rooms swinging open of their own accord in the middle of the night isn't... incredibly normal. Still, when the subject of ghosts comes up as the assorted students mill about the hallway in their pajamas, Valmont has to scoff. ]
Please. Ghosts aren't real, obviously. Now, if you lot had had experience with real magic, like I have -
[ An eerie howl echoes down the hallway. Valmont shrieks and jumps behind his nearest classmate, not electing to finish that sentence. ]

[So here is a teen who is definitely not dressed in the school uniform if there are any other options in the room - if he's waking up in his previous outfit, he'll just stay that way, and if not. Ehh... whatever the most casual way to wear these clothes is, he'll go with it, leaving the blazer hanging up. But he doesn't expect to run into any trouble anyway since, well - he assumes no one will be able to perceive him anyway. So he has no problem blabbering to himself as he wanders out into the hall.]
You can't fool me, weird dorm signs! This is so not my school. [He takes a glance out the window, growing more baffled by the second.] - this can't even be Shibuya? Then again, that's ALMOST a relief.
[It's making him a bit anxious that he's alone though. He instinctively reaches into his pocket for his cell phone, only to remember it's not there.] Ugh... forget it. I just gotta find him, right? HEY! DID YOU MAKE IT OUT? RINDUUUDE!
[Rindude, dude, dude.... The wide, austere hallway echoes his voice in a disappointingly lonely fashion that only makes him more frustrated. Rounding the corner impatiently, he smacks RIGHT into your character.]
Kweh!?
[He backs up after that, confused for more than one reason.]
capstone - playground.

Oookay. Sure. Just what I always wanted!
[He actually WILL pocket a pair of scissors on the smaller side, this undercut's not going to take care of itself. Plus those uniforms could use a bit of modifying if they're really the only outfits they have to wear. Fashion is important! (SOMEONE isn't taking this whole thing seriously.)]

Hey. You know who's really sus? Think about it... who's the one among us nobody would ever guess? That's right-
[He claps his hands together, pointing with them as one, beyond the podiums at a silent killer]
It was Sheepy! Case closed, let's fire up the grill!

Iron Maiden Jeanne | Shaman King
[A couple hours have passed since the youths found themselves dispersed in the strange building, and a certain girl has gotten the message to obediently change into the school uniform. Now you can find her pacing in front of the student council, almost skipping in the light fabric.]
But if it's really just two siblings in the student council, then that is far too lonely... or am I mistaken, and the little brother is unrelated to the prefect...?
[She stops, smiles, shakes her head.]
Forgive me for not finding a way out yet. If circumstances had truly changed, I merely enjoy the idea of enforcing the law in a school.

[Now she has regained her "casual" dress. By this time, you have probably gotten the idea that Jeanne Sure Loves Praying. This is different from her other prayers, though. She is kneeling a medium distance from the discovered body, unable to open her eyes, letting out a single perfect sparkling tear.]
Come to meet him, angel of the lord! Receive his soul and present him to the great spirit... [...okay... she can't continue after this. Jeanne is crying a second tear.] Hic...
[Also if you need to know who it is, it's Bill.]

Emma Banks | Six (M.M. Vaughan)
[Emma wakes up very confused, and the first thing she realizes is that her brother isn't here. The next thing she realizes is that she can't even contact him or her parents. The third thing she realizes is that this isn't their room.
She stands up, noticing the new clothes and making a face. Still, it's something to wear, so she changes and heads out. She wanders for a bit, and won't notice anyone calling her unless they're in her line of sight and directly waving. That's why her first stop is the School Store, so she can grab some notebooks and pens to write down a quick explanation she can just show to people.]
I'm deaf and can't hear you, but I can read lips as long as you're facing me.
[Also, if she finds anyone else while wandering, she'll sign while showing them the explanation page:]
Do you know sign?
2. Capstone Project
[After that announcement, Emma turns to whoever is closest, signing rapidly, her expression frantic.]
I didn't misread that, did I? She really said we have to kill someone to get out?
4. Seven Mysteries
[Emma is in the gym, going through several karate stances on one of the mats. She has her back turned to the rest of the equipment, so she doesn't hear anything as one of the scooter boards starts slowly moving on its own with a screeching sound, sliding back and forth behind her.]
[OOC Note: The translation effect will work on sign language! Also I do want Emma to have more difficulty reading lips for nonhumans at first, but let me know if you'd rather not go through that!]
